Just wanted to say what a great year it has been trying to learn from everyone here..but sad to say my membership is expiring in 1 week! At least I can still enter the "open" challenges until I can get myself out of financial hell and pay for another year.

It baffles the mind how some people can tote around such expensive gear and even give a second thought to shelling out a paultry twenty five bones.

Not only that but people that state in forums that they can't afford a renewal, then less than a month or two later are gloating about the new lenses on the way. WTF.

What baffles me is how quick members are to shell out for certain folks, and castigate others. The OP doesn't seem to be toting around a bunch of expensive lenses, btw.

The timing of this hit home for me, since I was recently the recipient of a gift membership - and then just purchased a camera!
Well, for me it boiled down to priorities. I had been saving for the new camera equipment for several months. I actually had to use some of that savings a few times for unexpected financial needs.
I enjoy my membership here, but it's not a "need"...it is definitely a luxury and at least with an open registration I could still participate. I could have used money from my camera fund to pay for it, but wanted the equipment more than I wanted the membership. I could not afford both. $25 may not seem like a lot, but it all adds up.
My husband and I don't "do" credit - other than for the car and the mortgage - so charging it is not an option for us. We give away a lot of our income helping out various family members and causes (we just became responsible for over $10,000 in medical costs for my hubby's mom) and we do it because we can. We're not rich, but we try to make the most out of our budget and use it to help when we can.
Please be careful about making any assumptions about the financial decisions made by others. If you decide to give, give freely and enjoy the feeling.

Hey I just started doing the nudes:p.... LOL acuatlly it was a joke about you adding me to your favorites I thougt people would remember the whole drama that went on here a few months ago :/
So please dont put me in your fav unless you like me very much and would like to see more of my nude shots.....

I am not in any way asking for someone to pay my way for this site or anything else for that matter. I'll be back when things are better for my family. I don't have alot of expensive camera equip..., for that matter I don't even have the Canon 20D anymore or the 2 lens that were with it...read back in old post. I sold the camera to someone from Fred Miranda about 8 months back when the $$ started getting tight! I only have a cheapo,(in my mind), Sony F707...so please don't think I have money to blow off. I pay child support on 3 children ($775.00 month), I have a mortgage over $1300.00, a wife and another child, and tons of other bills. I'm the typical person that lives beyond their means. I don't want pity or anything else. I was only saying thanks for the learning experience, etc. If the rude, (again to me), comments are what can be expected from saying thanks..I will probably not come back.

Don't forget you can always stay around as a registered user. You can still continue learning and sharing photo interests. Membership has it's perks, but I don't think it needs to be all or nothing :)

Yeah, for sure...and that old Sony is still pretty darn good. Stick around even if you cant enter member challenges. |
