Today at Long Beach, CA, the Queen Mary 2 met for the first time with it's name sake, the Queen Mary, which is permanently docked in Long Bech Harbor. After entering the harbor, the QM2 and QM exchanged horn signals, then the QM2 was turned around by tug boats and after another set of horns between the two Queens, it headed off to Mexico.

Cool ... but it's too bad they didn't bring the QM2 a little closer to the QM for some side-by-side / size comparison shots.
What did the skywriting say? |

I think something like welcome Queen Mary, it disappeared pretty quick in the ocean breeze.
The harbor was not deep enough for the QM2, so shot 7 is about as close as it got to QM.
