Please take the time to read the following news article. I feel that this is important since it's not something that is often discussed. Having just had a death in the family, I don't want anyone else to go through it, especially if it is caused by something preventable or something that is easily treated if caught early.
You guys are like an extended family to me. Please take care of yourselves!

4. A headache accompanied by a stiff neck and fever is an indicator of a serious infection called meningitis.

In fact, if you can't put your chin on your chest, that's a sign you may have bacterial meningitis, says Shulman. You need antibiotics immediately to kill the bacteria before it infects and scars the brain.

The local college has had three students died from this in the past few weeks. Thousands have been given vaccines over the last few weeks. Time is very important with diagnosis

...and if your butt itches all the time you might have worms!

(Seriously - pinworms. Not really common in developed countries any more (other than in daycares and nurseries), but a real deal nonetheless!)

Yeah, my sister is at ULL and has been sending us the horror stories about meningitis... It seems that her roommates best friend was one of the ones that died...

"When the female is ready to lay eggs she crawls out of the anus and deposits the eggs on the perianal skin; a single female can produce more than 10,000 eggs..... .....When ingested by another person the eggs hatch in the small intestine,".

we studied those worms in one of my parasitology classes.... you can test yourself by putting scotch tape on the skin near your butt, ripping it off and then looking under a microscope. (seriously). A ton of kids have it and by the time they are 5 or so their immune systems can fight the worms... but they can also spread in the air by flattulence. :)
