Hello everyone,
My name is Katya (Kat) I am a 20 year old Female and I live on Fraser Island, QLD, Australia.
I recently recieved as a gift, a Canon PowershotA70 and a Canon Selphy Printer (pretty basic compared to what alot of you have by the sounds of it) I'M IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! AND PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Living in a pretty undeveloped type of area that is actually a World Heritage Listed National Park, most of my photos are of Flora and Fauna as well as landscapes and seascapes.
I never liked photos in the past - my oppionion was that you might look at the photos once or twice after you have taken them, and you might show some uninterested friends - but the memories of the event are way better, so don't be stuck behind a camera when it counts - BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED!!!! Now when I look at things I see them differently, each leaf, each grain of sand, each rolling wave is transformed in my mind into the perfect picture - and I am able to capture it! I think that most of my photos are good, some of them I think are great, I have had some good feed back from some very honest people - but I am interested in what evertone else thinks.
I will have a few challenges with the lack of technology available to me here on the Island, but every 2 weeks I go back to the mainland for 2 or so days and have a good computer there. The computer that is available here at the moment is simply an interent computer - not way of downloading photos!!!
Anyway I look forward to some of the photo challenges and hearing what you guys think of my work.

Welcome to the addiction lol.
(If someone else could verify on if this is possible and how to do it I thought it might be helpful to lazyislandkat when challenges arise...thanks) If you enter challenges on your little 2 days on the mainland and one of your images has to be verified you will only have 48 hrs to upload the original. With your 2 weeks in between it doesn't look like you'd be able to do so. I think I saw somewhere here that if you are a paid member you can upload the unedited original in your working folder and keep it hidden just in case SC (site council) requires it.
I'm not sure if you would ever need to do it, but would hate to see someone get disqualified because they don't have real internet access for 2 weeks.

Thanks for giving me a wam welcome everyone!!! I'm sure I will have fun here. Unfortuntally I wont be going to the main land for another week or so - so you'll all have to wait to see some pics.
I am thinking of getting a laptop with a CDMA connection for the internet so that I can use it here and do all of my photo things on it. I just have to look at a few things and talk to a few prople - but I think it would probably be a good idea. There are about 20 staff here and only one computer, so as you can imagine you can't always be on the computer when you want, and you can't always spend alot of time on it either!!!
I have been looking through some the photos here - there are heaps of great shots!!! Are any of you professional photographers??? If you are what type things do you do, eg: advertising???
Anyway, as usual there is someone else waiting to use the computer!!
