Sometimes I find it nessecary to photograph through the screening on a door or window. However since my camra is a rather basic model, the auto focus concentrates on the screening rather than the outside object I want to focus on. Also, it tends to mess up the color. Any tips or hints regarding photographing in these conditions?

If your camera has a focus lock when you press the button halfway then you could focus the subject with the door open the shut the door and take the pic.
