Hey, Im quite the beginner when it comes to photography, but especially with photoshop. I am about to submit a photo for the duotones contest. In my understanding, black and white photography fits into this category? For my entry I desaturated a color photo, and played with some of the levels and the contrast. Does desaturating an image make it a lagit duotone photo, or is there an actual process i have to go through for it to qualify? Id really appreciate some advice, so i can change the photo i uploaded if nessecary. Thanks a bunch,

Phil

The challenge description allows for black and white images in this challenge.

Black and white has been classed as a duotone for this challenge. If you are happy with it, and your whites and blacks are relatively rich in tonal quality, you won't have anything to worry about. There will be a lot of black and whites entered. For my entry, I have an enhancement called duotone, and I called up a preset called duotone5 which sepia toned it, but it is a relatively easy process. Not all photos look good, though with sepia toning. Only you can decide if that will enhance it or not.

Ok great! Thanks. Im still a bit worried about the editing rules, because a lot of the lingo doesnt tell me much yet ;) But i guess that is why im using this site. I'm pretty sure that I followed all the rules, but I was a little bit worried because i did most of the editing for this one in iPhoto before resizing it in photoshop. Thanks!
