Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone would be so good as to give me a little feedback on these pics...
Taken in colour and desat using Hue/Saturation is PS. A little bit of cloning of distracting background in the first, but thats all.
Click for bigger pics (and excuse the watermarks - They are for my website and of my son, so don't really want to put them up without them...)
Oh - I have prints of the first two hanging up at home - 20" by 30" and they look fab!

I like the first one best. Good shot of his eyes and those cubby little cheeks. Precious and well-done.
Congrats on these

I really like the first one. All of them are good, but the first is my favorite. I'm not crazy about the colored ball in the 3rd one- maybe if it were a different color lol but the yellow just doesn't do much for me.
Great job though! |

Thanks for the comments guys...
The second was my fav too...
The ball in the third can be a number of colours, using the Hue/Saturation tool.
It was isolated by not desaturating Yellow on the background layer. I then added second layer and competely desaturated it. Finally I added a layermask and worked it so that just the ball showed through as there were a couple of other small yellow areas.
Would that be the easiest way to go about doing this kind of thing?
The ball was originally yellow and this was his first time playing in this play centre, so it kind of keeps the memory alive! He carried that ball round for ages! (It looked good in red though...Hmmm...)

Al-Very nice shots. I think you could crop down a little closer to the top of his head. That extra space up top isn't necessary.

Lovely images. You captured him very well. I disagree, however, about cropping the top. A master photog once told me to leave space above children, it helps to give them a sense of scale.
I don't always stick to that advice, but I think it works well with these shots.

I'm stickin with my comment. I still think that extra space up top does the image no justice imo.
this is one of my favorite kid shots on the site (grigrigirl)

I think you're right Pawdrix - It looks a little better without the space up top, though I wanted to constrain the proportions, so it would need cropping on the left/right a little too I think.
Do you think the third would benefit from a tighter crop too?
Thanks for the pointer though... taken on board!

I think, to tighten up at the top you would have needed a bit more space open on the left on both to get the best perspective...to be honest but I still think it looks better overall.
Try it out with the other...it only takes a minute. If you have more space on the left in the original image(s) keep it in and then crop down.

Actually, I think all three are as composed when I shot them. Don't think any of them were cropped, so probably no more space on the left!
Nevermind - I'll bear this in mind next time and either compose better or give myself room to crop...
Cheers,
