Anyone know how to do a true duotone in Photoshop Elements? I read the tuturial for Photoshop (greyscale image, then duotone option). But what about Elements-is there a way to duotone?

| Or what if you don't have Photoshop or Elements? I'm a newbie, and I'm totally confused at this point about what is considered duotone. I don't have that option in my editing software (I use MS DIS). I submitted something, but am not sure if it will get dq'd... |

| I tried and failed. It's easier in Picasa by just converting to black and white then changing the color temperature... |

Basically in elements you need to utilize the Colorize option in the Hue/Sat toolbar and play around with Hue/Sat.

I don't know if this is right since I couldn't follow most of those tutorials either but I changed my contrast and hues before I did the mode->grayscale conversion. Then I played with contrast again. converted back mode->RGB color. At this point I went into Brightness/contrast -> levels and select 1 color to turn up. I don't know if its the best way to do it but I like the effects. Seems that if you play with the contrast before grayscale and even after, the color comes out better.
Anyone care to agree with this way? disagree? have an easier way? Since I didn't select any specific areas, I am assuming this is all legal under basic editing rules. |

I have Elements 2.0 and this is what I do...
In "Enhance", select "Adjust Color" then "Remove Color". This provides a B&W image. Still under "Enhance" & "Adjust Color", select the "Color Variations". There you can adjust a B&W photo in the RGB channels and it provides pretty decent duotones.
Another option is go to //www.optikvervelabs.com and download their free plug-in that works with Elements. It has some duotone options under the filter selections.
