I took a hike with the family up to Ape Cave in the Mt. St. Helens National Park. It was a lot of fun, but perhaps a little too much adventure for our two year old who was shivering by the end (30 degrees outside, 42 degrees in the cave). The cave is a lava-tube (and the longest known in North America) over two miles long. My five-year-old thought he had died and gone to heaven; he had a blast.

Here's two shots. Neither are awesome, but give you an idea of a view you will not normally see. In honor of the upcoming duotone challenge, I worked them up in duotone for y'all...

Do you have a Black & White duotone version of that? ;^)

Ha, I had my own bet how long it would take before a comment like that came up...you beat my estiamte by 8 minutes.

And no I don't...nyah!

Nice shots, I especially like the one with the icy stalactites.

Speaking about taking your family there reminds me when I took my two year old to Mount St. Helens. That was Saturday, May 17th 1980.

Duotone could be a very cool Challenge. I think the trick is not to simply duotone any old image but to shoot towards a color...if that makes sense?

The one above doesn't totally work in my opinion but it was worth a try.

Yeah...I am kicking myself now. I never get comments on my portfolio images and that one got two within hours of putting it there. I should have left it in. Oh well....

Like your shot...unique look...like of war time pin ups.

How about a new DQ rule that disqualifies anybody trying to win too many ribbons? Anybody up for this idea? Huh hmm?

I am totally uninspired, and a little intimidated by the number of entries ...
Rikki, send me some of those good "last minute idea" vibes, you got going on :)
