That is basically my question...Shadow/Highlight, I assume it is legal in Basic editing rules since it applies to whole image right? Thanks.

| Speaking of legal in basic - what about rotating an image? I recall the discussion in "what makes this a 7" that the second shot discussed may have been stronger if rotated horizontally. Would somethink like that be legal? |

You can rotate all you like, assuming you rotate the entire image at once.

But if I rotate, my back is to the computer and it's hard to tell what I'm doing....

We can rotate in tandem and one of us will always be facing the screen. Works for me.

is that the same as brightness/contrast in ps cs2? if so it only has 2 points of control, levels has 8 and curves has like 16. i think curves is the best tool to adjust the sahdows and highlights.

Speaking of rotations -- I believe it is GeneralE (could be mis-remembering) that has a gallery of alternative borders created by multiple rotations. I wonder if those are still as legal as they once were -- and if they will be when the rewrite is done.
