That is basically my question...Shadow/Highlight, I assume it is legal in Basic editing rules since it applies to whole image right? Thanks.

Speaking of legal in basic - what about rotating an image? I recall the discussion in "what makes this a 7" that the second shot discussed may have been stronger if rotated horizontally. Would somethink like that be legal? |

You can rotate all you like, assuming you rotate the entire image at once.

But if I rotate, my back is to the computer and it's hard to tell what I'm doing....
Oh. The image. Right. |

We can rotate in tandem and one of us will always be facing the screen. Works for me.

is that the same as brightness/contrast in ps cs2? if so it only has 2 points of control, levels has 8 and curves has like 16. i think curves is the best tool to adjust the sahdows and highlights.

Speaking of rotations -- I believe it is GeneralE (could be mis-remembering) that has a gallery of alternative borders created by multiple rotations. I wonder if those are still as legal as they once were -- and if they will be when the rewrite is done.

My assessment: It is an interesting exercise in editing but ultimately unrewarding DPC-votewise ... |
