the first one suffers from some posterizing due to post processing. I would gues you went a little crazy on the curves. It is a nice shot. I would just try again with the ps.

Agreed. Potentially a very nice shot. Colors are unrealistic, too "brown", and PP posterization as occured. Also, level the horizon. Give us a link to the original if you want us to take a stab at it. I have *cough* some experience at sunsets...
