I'm trying to hear what the pros are for DPC membership. I'm interested in being able to compete in more challenges but am not convinced yet if it's worth $25/yr. Obviously most people will think so but I need to justify it to myself since I'm a student with an expensive hobby. Thanks for any input you may have.

Best 25 bucks I have ever spent. There is no way I can buy for 25 dollars the information and knowledge that this site has to offer anywhere else. Think of it this way it's about 7cents a day.

I'll second that... best $25 I ever spent.
Even if you don't enter many member challenges, it's worth it for being able to link to portfolio photos quickly and easily in the forums.
It also does well with Google, I've got good work from people coming across my images.

No - it's not worth a cent. I think you should remain in the guest lounge !

there are too many people chasing these members ribbons these days ;-)

It's a piddly amount of money. Don't delay. Join up and enter the Member challenges.

I think of it as worth it. And if you break it down, the $25 a year only comes out to $2.09 a month.

Membership is the only way to go. What is 25.00?
1/2 tank of gas?
Average dinner for 2 without alcohol?
5 packs of cig's,
Case of micro brews,
10 bags of naucho's,
processing 2 rolls of 35mm film,
1/2 dz roses for your wife who is mad at you
One ticket to a college football game
and so on and so on.

You not only get to participate in more challenges, you also get portfolio space. Having a portfolio gave me a place to display some of my photos, and allowed me to post them in the forums. Don't forget members also can update their scores whenever they want to!

I joined after I entered my first challenge because I realized I was going to spend a lot of time here and felt guilty doing it for free. I am glad I joined and plan to be around for a long time. Remember, once you have equipment and software, taking and processing pictures is pretty much free in the digital world. Membership is one of the few expenses I've incurred, and I definitely feel I have gotten more than $25. worth of knowledge here.

This cracked me up by the way...especially the 1/2 dz roses...I've kinda learned not to tell my wife about anything photo related. Easier that way.
