I'm still on the fence, and the tax man says I have another 8 weeks to think about it... though I am never going to buy and XT. Can't stand that crappy grip. |

My heart was set on Nikon until I held them both. I switched to the Canon because I liked the feel and buttons. It just seemed more ergonomic to me. They are both awesome cameras.
Glad I kept my P&S. I use it a lot for family snapshots and at times when the 20D might get damaged. |

Wavelength, you'll be able to pick up a used 20d for the price of a new xt in the next week or so...you'll love the way that camera feels. |

My apologies to Lord Vader, but I've been inspired to wear the white of the Canon Jedi ;-)

I say sell the nikon. Once you see what the Canon can do, you won't pick up the nikon again.
For glass - the best out there as an all around walkaroud lens is the Tamron SP24-135 for about $400 - there may be a rebate even. Check fredmiranda.com for the reviews - outstanding glass. From there you can see what you want next - wider, faster, longer or true macro.

I think you should hang on to it for a while. The Nikon is nice for telephoto. Until you pick up a really nice telephoto lens at least. Use the 300d for wide angle and short tele to start. A lot of people use the P&S cameras for telephoto (at least the Canon ones) because they have 'L' glass and IS for a lot less than you would spend on a comparable IS L telephoto. |

Sorry, Nikonians you may very well see the last of the 8700 photos from me soon. It's probably going to be sold for "glass" money.
I just can't stand being a P&S digital guy anymore... time to catch my digital equipment up to par of my 35mm and Canon, I must say, has the most bang for the buck. |
You must be wise, good looking & rich:)
Welcome home from your journey. I know you will love the Canon, the lense choices are overwhelming.

Congratulations! I am officially without camera now until my 10D arrives (had to sell the 717 to finance) and it's driving me nuts.
I hope you enjoy your new camera and I hope you got a great deal! |

I know I'm hanging on to my Minolta for forever. I'll leave the SLR at home and take the 'ittle one with me in the car in case I see something while I'm driving.

'tis about time you got a real camera! Your photography deserves it...but why a Canon, I'll never know! Anyhow, have fun with is and let's see some new photos from you. A good start would be a better self portrait for your portfolio :-)

Whoo Hoo....maybe I'll get one just for the improved resolution. Besides, the one I have is getting a bit wrinkled
