I need to type "MYU" into a cell but it keeps changing to "MY" for me.
I have tried typing 'MYU but it wont work. This is dumb, but please help!

Go to tools, then auto correct options. Find the bit where it says change myu to my and delete it.
edited to add: I had no idea it did that. You made me look for the solution and I learnt something new, too :-)

The other thing you can do if you need to type something into a cell which will ignore any Auto-corrections is, use the apostrophy (') before typing any text.
It will mean that you never need to go looking for any auto-correction setting to 'turn off'
This should then allow you to make as many spelling "mistakes" as you please...

You can also watch for a little square symbol that Excel puts on the screen (beside the cell you're modifying) when it auto-corrects - right click that symbol and choose no auto-correction.
This is for newer versions of Excel. |

| If you don't want to disable the auto-correct, you can use "undo" immediately after the automatic change has been made. So, for example, you type MYU and it switches to MY after you tab to the next cell--press CTRL + z so the change will be undone and tab to the next cell--no change should occur on the second time. This also works in MSWord where I use it to remove hyperlinks that are automatically added--I don't want to turn the feature off, so I just undo and continue on. |
