i realize that, as a smoker, i'm not part of the "cool" crowd. but, the last time i checked, smoking (and alcohol) was still legal for people past the age of consent. and i am not nearly as likely to cause injury or death to anyone while i'm under the influence of tobacco. Tobacco is a drug like any other. It is deadly and addictive. Tobacco "dealers" (ie. companies) knowingly kill people, and tried to keep that secret for a long time. They also knowingly targetted underage children in their advertising. And while you are smoking you ARE dangerous to anyone around you who breathes your carcinogenic smoke.
All drugs that can be abused and are harmful to people are bad. However, the decision to take any drug is an individual choice. People who take drugs have to deal with the consequences. They are not criminals though. All drug users should have the same amount of freedom and the same limitations as smokers and drinkers of alcohol.
And I would go further and ban caffeine in drinks targetted at anyone under smoking age.
Yeah, I know politics in the DPC forums is a no-no, but I think most of us are mature enough to respectfully disagree, aren't we? You just can't be silent while the world is on the brink of war. |

I'm sure you meant to say "illegal drugs."

And if all drugs were legal, the price would be so low that they wouldn't waste their time on a 10 year old or anyone else for that matter.

"war" has definitely been declared on cigarette smoking. before long, i won't even be able to smoke in my OWN home. i understand that this is a vile habit and i'm well aware that i need to quit...but...the decision is mine to make |
As is the decision to take any drug. What is the difference?

I think this has sort of deviated from the actual topic of the thread. Maybe you can take up your drug discussions to a different forum.
