I have a question and am wondering how others feel about it.
I was reviewing the broken II challenge (some really great pictures by the way) and noticed on one image (not mine...I didn't enter any) that appeared to be just fine on my monitor but one person commented that it was too dark, I didn't notice anyone else stating this.
I had a period where a lot of my comments I made were about the brightness (or lack there of) until someone called me on it and I checked my monitor against work and low and behold it was crap. So until I could fix it I would not judge an image on that issue deciding that the image may be just perfect but I'm seeing it badly.
I checked the members profile and past comments and there seems to be a history of "dark image" comments. In my mind if you find yourself consistantly commenting about a certain item such as this or maybe color cast (something that could easily be your fault) then maybe something is wrong with your system and you should check it out before you continue. Now I don't know and am not accussing the member of voting down because of it but it very well could be.
Like I said I was guilty of it for a while and thought I would send a nice PM to the person offering some calibration ideas to see if it helps but was wondering if I'm out of line since it wasn't my images being commented on. Maybe they just don't realize how many they have commented on with the same comment or that the issue could be on their side of the image.
Just wondering

I guess it wouldn't hurt to pm them. They may not read the forums.
Monitor calibration has been discussed frequently ever since I've been hanging out here.
Right now, I've got 3 of 4 commenters saying my image is dark. I have to assume it's my monitor even though I can see all details on mine and I can also see all the bars at the bottom of the voting page.? |

Usually when I pm people specifically about a technical comment, they listen, and don't get mad at me. Just be honest and not condescending, but try to be helpful. |
