I know when working in RAW different things you can do can drastically increase the amount of noise in the image, most notably of course is the exposure.
I use RSE for processing the RAW files, and I was curious if there was any knowledge out there about the other adjustments and whether they also had a tendency to add more noise to a file than doing the equivalent to a TIFF in CS2? Particularly the RSE Shadow, Highlight, and Saturation sliders vs adjusting Curves, Levels, or Saturation/color in CS2. |

Shadow is probably one of the biggest culprits in adding noise to the dark areas of the image.

I've tried the Shadows and also Levels and I can see noise come and go in some images but I don't think my monitor is really good enough to tell all the way.
Is it better then to use Photoshop and levels or curves to bring the contrast together or is it going to make more noise nomatter the program? |
