Does anyone have a recommendation for a software program to download/organize images from a memory card? I currently use the Zoombrowser utility which was packaged with my Rebel. I find it cumbersome to use and SLOWWWW.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. |

NOT Laughing :) I haven't tried Windows. Does Windows show a thumb of the images on the card? It really helps me organizationally to be able to shuttle the images into their proper folder while downloading.
But, question? I use RSE to process my RAW files and I can open the memory card directory tree to see the images. This doesn't allow me to transfer from mem card to HD. or does it? Also, RSE generates little thumb files on the mem card. |

If I'm not mistaken you can get a plug-in for Explorer that allows you to view Canon and Nikon raw files directly in Explorer.

If you use a card reader then the card is treated like any other drive on your system.
I use RSP. I can't recall if RSE has the upload option. I don't think RSE will create the thumbs/raw conversion info on the card (does it matter if it does?) However you're best to copy the files you want to your HD and do the conversion after the copy. |

I believe that just viewing the files with RSE creates thumbs in their resident directory.
thanks for your response and I'll do some looking. Thanks Leroy for the link.

I bought breeze browser and downloader long ago. Since then I have gotten several others including the microsoft suite, and CS2 with the adobe bridge built in, but BreezeBrowser is far more intuitive, customizable and robust. I never use it's RAW converter( which others speak well of) but it makes downloading and organizing a breeze.
Mine are organized by date shot and then divided into culls, edits, print ready and web ready. I slot the card and it downloads, then opens the browswer for me where i can cull what I want to edit. Then the prcess slows down, but Breeze browser is the only part of my workflow I am happy with. |

Zoombrowser works fine for the download but I find its interface to be less intuitive than I prefer for viewing my image folders and their contents. I'll check out the Breeze browser as well. Thanks
