A PC cord has two wires actually... it's a coaxial type cord, which helps isolate electircal noise.
The outer braid is a ground in the circiut and the inner wire, which is isolated by rubber is the hot wire.
To answer your question... no. If you look at the male mono type plug on a PC cable, it has two sections for hot and ground, so sticking a bare wire into the hole could cause a direct short. Very bad for electronics and your safety.

So im better off taking 2 cables that have male PC tips on them and just soldering them together?

That will work, just make sure to solder the braid around the outside AND the wire in the middle and use plenty of electrical tape to isolate them from one another.

This is wayyyy too complicated, does anyone know where I can get a male to male PC cord, about 1 foot?

Radio Shack, some music stores. . it's often called a mono mini-plug.
Total cost $2-3.
BTW, make sure you don't get a stero mini-plug ... these won't work.

I was typing male PC to male PC, but didnt find any good results. Male/male PC worked better in the search field. go figure. Now all I need is this. //dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=308704
