Again some great ideas, Keiran. Thanks so much for helping me with this project. I'm starting to get more excited about the reshoot as more ideas fill my little brain. Savanah poses very naturally, so its just up to me to capture that and direct her to best suit her. I think I will try some outdoor shots if the sky is nice - I can totally envision what you describe with some fluffy white clouds on blue sky, blue dress, blue eyes, blonde hair - I think it would work very well.
Also, I like the lolly pop idea, which made me think of a hula hoop! that might be fun too!
Anyway, I will post more shots as we get them. Again, thanks for all the kind comments. :) |

So the pagent was last night.......
It took so long to get her dress altered that we didn't get to do another studio shoot before the pagent but....
....I shot all night and got some amazing shots. Savanah looked great. All the girls had a fun and really enjoyed themselves. And I LOVED shooting them! I have hundreds of shots to sift through, but here are my first pick favs:

Cindi, great work on those photos in what appear to be very challenging lighting conditions!

It was sooooooooooooo dark in there. ISO was at 1600 whole time and I wasn't allowed to use flash. A short woman with a nasty disposition reminded me of that fact FOUR TIMES! *mumblessomethingaboutpagentnazi*

too bad you had to be the 'mom'...i shot a local pageant a few weeks ago for the paper, and it was a blast. had total access to the girls from start to finish, as well as freedom to shoot from anywhere i wanted. i used flash some, but found the results without to be much better. |

Aweeeeeeeee thanks guys. I thought she should have been first also. They only name 1st runner up and winner and she wasn't one of those. All the rest is a tie I guess lol
Skip, I went to the dress rehersal Friday (will post shots later when I get through em) and was allowed FULL access and could use my flash & lightsphere. But last night I was quite forbidden!

next time you have the opportunity, try to get credentials from one of the community papers that would have an interest in the pageant. i'm actually in the process of editing a book to sell to the mothers... |
