in these photos. In otherwords if someone can walk me through step by step as I am a photoshop novice! Any help is much appreciated :-)

Charlie, I'm sorry but I really don't think you can teach something as complex as photoshop in a forum post.
Perhaps you need to do it the hard way, like most other people.
Buy a good book, read tutorials (on DPC and elsewhere), read the PS help files, and experiment....... a LOT!

It is a huge program, but so worth the effort.

I know a little bit have followed Bears tuorials just wondering if there is some easy way to get of the background or not as it seems quite common. LOL someone must know some secrets to share!

Filter>Extract use Smart Highlighting
