I have never entered in hopes of a ribbon. I usually try to follow the challenge and think of what everyone else WILL NOT be shooting. I think my entries bear this out...usually the different one in the group. But I like them all so...ribbons, schmibbons.
Do we get to dig tunnels and stuff? How about hard hats with flashlights built in like miners wear? |

Well, ok - you have my vote, but if you want to hang out in caves, you have to prove your unworthiness by quoting some disparaging remarks about your photos overheard in the NICU waiting room. ;-) |

Hurry though...you don't want to the odd man out!

one of my favorite challenge entries of all time:
And this:
I've proven to myself that I can take images that score well. When I need a boost of confidence score-wise, I submit what I call my bright and shinys (such as blue II). I try to add a little of myself in but those really hold no value for me. Since I know I can shoot general appeal fulfill the challenge shots, I enjoy it when I submit something more my style and at least 1 person gets it. That's all it takes - 1 person, 1 comment... |

I've always and will continue to shoot for me.
I like simple shots, something that just happens in front of you at the time.
That is why I am amazed if any of my photos get over 5
May the revolution continue !!!!

Guess I joined this with my last entry.
I still think it's quite abstract in it's own way. |

I think I'm part of this group. I never shoot things for other people on a mass appeal basis.. always for me or the specific client I shoot for.
It hurts one on DPC.. lately I can't get out of the 5.5ish score range, even though I've loved every entry I've put in and think they're probably better than most of my entries that have scored 6+.
It's all good though. |

Its a lovely picture but I dont think what people were looking for. At least from the challenge description, since you can tell what it is, i think that hurt my score as well but to the underground we go :). Its a lovely picture of motion and that you can still see her face for the most part, with the curl of hair is great. |

This is one of the best shots I've seen of late. Really a very strong emotional image - brought tears to me ol' eyes, it did. Powerful. |

Sorry, Rikki, but ribbon winners have to wait up top. With the exception of those very special few who've managed a Brown...

now that's not nice..winning a ribbon doesn't mean you can't be part of the underground...
pause...looks up Rikki's profile and his goals...
ok you're right, everyone hide don't tell Rikki where we are, and for crying out loud put away your woody... |

You must first kiss the Troll...
...then you must score below the 50% mark on 3 of the past 6 challenges OR you could skip that and take "The Underground Challenge" - I don't know what that is though. You'll have to ask bucket since he started this club.
In either case you have to kiss the Troll. |

Art/Ken - gotta say that your portfolio is a fun place. Regarding your Candlelight pic, I think it's a fine goal to get scores to match aperture settings. I'm only going to shoot at f/5.6 from now on.
And as for that Bucket character - checked the portfolio and not one of the last six challenge entries is below 50%. Guy's gotta try harder... |
