"Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."

In CS2, CS, and browser windows I get errors. These were all shot on the same card - the client stuff I can re-shoot, but the photos of my daughter before her big date will be hard to recreate.

I shot some RAW and some jpeg on this card - anybody with previous experience with this? I'd really appreciate any help on how to rescue these shots.

you might post one or two so folks can try different programs on them.

Have you tried opening them in Photoshop from the card itself?

I've seen that message in PS when I try to open a nonconverted raw file.

I've seen this error on cards going bad before. Hope someone can get them opened for you.

Try opening it with IrfanView as it appears to be able to open almost anything (it's a free download).

I had this problem. It is very frustrating. I had to use a program that would recover the damaged files off my CF card. I tried several things but have not had the problem at all since I bought a new card reader. Do you use a card reader or direct connect from the camera to the computer?

I have tried Nikon Capture - no luck

Tried opening from the card itself - no luck - three thumbnails are visible in Bridge, the rest are just generic .jpg icons. (even though some of them were shot RAW)

I'll try IfranView on my Windows machine tomorrow, thanks for that link

I'll try to find the little disk that came with my card and try running the recovery software too.

Thanks, I tried to put the card back in my camera and view the images on the LCD - not really surprised to find my camera telling me there are no files to view. Hope that recovery software works.

Thanks for all your input.

We have the exact same problem with a client's photos at our studio except we use CS3. If anyone can help us please send us an email at GGalleryPhotography@yahoo.com

I downloaded IrfanView and tried to open them to no avail. The files do have data on them and the files previously worked but for some reason do not any longer. Please help. We no longer have the images anywhere else.

Thanks

here's one of the many files that we have not working:

Irfanview complains that it can't open the file header. Unknown format. Sure seems corrupt.
