I thought I'd share my current list of resources for web design, graphic and print design and web development. This is not an exhaustive list of everything I use, but over the years a few sites have bubbled up to the surface.

Web Design
A List Apart (www.alistapart.com) - An expansive site dedicated to standards-based web design, development methodology, and trends. The design of the site is itself a good source for theivery when it comes to layout and simplicity of interface. If you visit one site as a result of this thread, make it ALA.

W3Schools.com - A great library of short and poignant tutorials on everything from CSS to XPath.

JavaBoutique (devx) - A good place for the Java, JSP, Ruby types to go for information about building stable, enterprise level web applications and back end systems. Not so important for the DPC web site developer, but useful nonetheless. Not the best resource for Javascript.

Javascript Reference (webreference.com) The most comprehensive library/portal for Javascript development I've found.

IBM's Design Guidelines A little dated but pertinent treatment of the topics of user interface design and OOA/OOD concepts.

CoolHomePages.com (for inspiration) While the scoring system tends to highlight flashy sites over useable, but boring sites, I enjoy picking up on trends and seeing the overall state of the Web design world at this fun site.

CSS Zen Garden - Hard to explain. Just read the entirety of the page to get the gist.

Graphic Design

Font Face - Very simply a great place for new, old, free and expensive fonts.

Apple Pro - Let's face it, these guys know what their doing.

HOW E-zine - phenomenal online magazine for the graphic and print designer.

Development
MSDN - If Microsoft is the evil empire then this is your copy of the blueprint to the Death Star. Ultimately, you must conform so why not figure out how the hell to do it the way IE expects you to. Don't worry, the Stormtrooper suit is suppose to itch a little.

WebReference.com - A Web, uh, reference. Very thorough. Mainly long year of good information, Danial-san.

W3.org - This the one place to go when you ask yourself questions like "...damn it, what's the syntax for doing attribute selection for all DIVs with class of 'navbar' to set the padding to 5 pixels?" I need to find out this stuff all the time, but then again I have dreams in well-formed XML. BTW, the answer is "DIV.navbar { padding: 5px; }" for all browsers but the one that matters. :S

HomestarRunner.com - Allows you get inside jokes with other web developers. Very good for networking. Soooooo good, actually.

Oreilly - Online home for the great series of development books.
