Has anyone stayed at St. Vincents in New Orleans recently? If so what was your experience? I've read some pretty mixed reviews on the web and some were pretty scary. Is it in a fairly safe neighborhood. I will be filming a dedication cermony in downtown N O and the hotel is very convenient any comments, suggestions, advice?

As you know, NO has changed a bit in the past few months. It's hard to make an accessment on the current status of the city. I do know that there is a bit of social unrest in the city. Although the mayor claims that downtown is safe, it's worth investigating.

From what I understand the hotel is in the Garden District. I will be on assignment filming about 45 construction workers pouring the Memorial for the victims of Katrina - I think I will be pretty safe I have a small crew going with me just concerned about everybody's welfare. We'll be incorporating the Hotels history into this short doc (was previously an orphanage that was hit with an early 20th century hurricane) so we are kinda locked in to the location just wondering if it is safe.
