BASIC EDITING CHALLENGE:

I have an idea for one of the current challenges but I'm worried about being DQ'ed. I have read the 'Basic Editing' rules several times but I'm still not 100% sure.

Can you take a photo, (during the challenge timeframe) print it and then take a photo of that photo? Confusing I know. Basically I want an element in my final photo submission to be a photo I have previously taken, (within the challenge dates of course).

Thanks for any advice,
Cheers Matt

i'm guessing that's fine, as i've seen it done plenty of times, as long as the photo of the photo isn't the main subject and has other stuff in the frame, right?

I think this is done all the time and is legal.

You should be okay. Take a look at GraphicFunk's profile. He does that sometimes.

If not then one could just take a photo of one of their best photos not taken during the timeframe and in a sense legally submit any photo past or present at any time.

If you take a photo, print it, then take a photograph of the original, with nothing else in the picture, it will be dq'ed for a violation of the artwork rule.

If you print out a picture and use it as your background, or as an element in the submission, it is okay, generally speaking.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I can proceed now although the "generally speaking" comment doesn't instil 100 percent confidence.

Even if it is a "major element"?
