I used to do it a lot with TPs. If I have got an image of cracked soil, I'd combine it with a closeup of a face, and what we have is an interesting image (a cracked face?).
How can I do it with digital images, using Photoshop?
I think, it should be possible with the use of layers. Has anyone tried? Help please. |

Either change the opacity on the top layer or change the blending mode. Experiment to get the look you want. |

you also need to turn one of the images into a greyscale to use as a distortion map. So say you are making the face look all cracked with the soil, you would use a greyscale image of the face, save it to a greyscale image somewhere on your drive, then under Filters/Distort/Distortion Map (I think it's distortion map - might be called something slightly different) you can apply that face map to the cracked image to distort it to fit the contours of the face.
Then use your ink effects to "marry" the images together - the distortion will realy sell the effect.

Are you referring to the Displace filter? Btw, here is a tutorial on it that might be helpful to kbhatia1967.

sorry, that's it. I've been doing motion graphics all day, and it's called a displacement map in that software -
thanks for keeping an eye on me
