hello, My name is Dean and i need to apologise for using Bill Jemisons photo for my benefit.

I have emailed Bill himself, apologising greatly and sincerely for my actions and expressing the way i have experienced and learnt from that experience that i would never do something that stupid and disgraceful in my life again.
I sent Bill this email:
To Bill Jemison, i have commented to another of your fellow DP photographers expressing how i am greatly sorry and how i took advantage of your photograph, i must admit that i am a new photographer - or trying to be one and a young one at that, and i was overwhlemed by the comments i recieved from your work. I got too obsessed with recieving the comments, and i regret everything i have done. I will make a public apology and i know what i have done deserves no respect.. With my complete apology i have disgraced my self and have no one to turn to. Please i hope that one day i will be welcomed back (not expecting to) and seen for a person who does not take advantage of others. I know what i have done is the worst thing a person can do and i am feeling the emotions that come with having my name disgraced.
Sorry, i truely am sorry
never will anything like this ever happen again with me.
With my greatest reget
Dean

- i sent this too him, and thankfully we have made up and starting to get back in line. I am making this apologetic post, so others will know what i have done and that i am attempting to get back on the right path.

Sorry for the convieniece i have caused everyone

Would you be willing to tell us WHY you did it? Many of us would be interested in knowing what sort of a mind-set leads to actions like this.

well done,Dean for the public apology - that took guts for a young man!

I hope other DPC members will accept this apology and let the matter end here.
We all have made youthful errors.

For what it's worth, I'd agree, especially since this is the first I saw of the blue-ribbon winner that started this thread. I just added it as a favorite.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it appears to be some pretty good advertising. All the pics state where the shot is from and who took it.

Now if we all had those pics with "Print Available" on it, I wonder how many more prints might have been (or have been) purchased because this crowd is sharing what they like with like minded friends.

Look what I found at that wierd site.

Photos-sg is not Dpchallenge.
Yes I do display on a regular basis the dpc winners but I'm not affiliated with DPChallenge.com.
If you're an author of one the picture displayed and don't want to be exposed on photos-sg just drop me a mail and I'll remove asap your picture. My goal is not to arm you but share your beautiful pictures with the people that share my passion.

Guess they are try to cover thier butts.

Isn't that a little backwards? Shouldn't they be getting our permission first and then posting our works on their site instead of posting first and then offering to remove if we object? Some, probably most, are not going to be aware of the "borrowing" in order that they can object.

well I guess that explains why DPC slows to a crawl sometimes ;)

The images posted there are copied and put on another server. There is no link back to DPC. Right-click and look at the properties. Here's one for example: //www.photos-sg.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_282241.jpg

Don't know...to me it doesn't smell right.

If you click on the profiles it links back to here.

Ass long as it links back , gives due credit & doesn't profit from it more than this site does, who cares...

I don't like it either...why does that site need to download, then re-upload all our photos...that's not right at all.

For all the places that will rip your photos and claim that they are their own, this site doesn't even come close.

Pick your battles better...

The fact remains that they are using images taken from this site without permission. And that's wrong anytime.

LOL!

I've actually been thinking of getting the digimarc service to track my images online. But as long as they have my info next to them and aren't making money, I'm all good.

Click on the 'Review of dpchallenge.com/image.php' link at the top of the stumbleupon link you've listed.
