Sony DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical ED Zoom Lens for Sony Alpha

i dunno how it happened but i'm in automatic focus mode on my lens and when i try to focus on somethin the lens goes crazy and wont focus on anything at all... and wont let me release the shutter. does anyone know why this happened or how to fix it???

sounds as if you are in continuis focus mode instead of single shot.check the settings

Autofocus systems can also sometimes have trouble in low-light situations or with the wrong kind of polarizer mounted.

its not the lighting. i'll try to focus it and it'll go nuts...and what settings should i check? its a canon rebel

nope, i have two and both of them wont focus on automatic mode right now

Probly need to send the body into canon for repair, still under warranty?

its a canon rebel w/ a stock lense (efs 18-55mm) and a sigma fisheye. Both aren't working in automatic focus

Reset the camera to factory defaults in the set up menu, if that dont work try to do a firmware update, if that dont work then take your camera and lenses to a shop, try the lenses on another body, if fine then submit your camera body to repair because it will be a sensor issue, not your image sensor but your focusing sensor or could be a contact either way it is not a user repair thing so give it to a professional to repair it properly.
