Sorry to hear that! I hope you don't have too much damage!
(At least you have the presence of mind to document the event--and apparently the flood didn't reach the computer...)

im writing this from work.. where i might be stuck for the night because my car is lodged in an unploughed parking lot (we got nailed with snow here.)

Shit! That sucks.
Hardly any snow to play in here in Hamilton, though I guess I'm happy my basement apartment is not afloat. Or it wasn't the last time I saw it...

That really sucks! If you take off your baseboards and get some professional grade dryers running ASAP you might be able to save yourself a lot of $$$ and aggravation in the form of mold and insurance claims. There's a very small windo of opportunity to save your drywall, if it got wet. Good luck!

I always imagined flooding to suck, and then we got 6" of rain in 4 hours and my basement filled with 19" of water...fortunately no loss of anything of any real value, but lots of cleaning. Then 4 days later it happened again! No loss this time (everything was already up off the floor) and then 4 months later - again!

And this is the space I am turning into a studio...

At least you're in an apartment - you can move!
