I have created an action to re-size images to 640x, the problem is when I run it as a batch it always asks me to click "Ok" to save it as a JPG. How do I get it to do this automatically?

When you recorded it did you include that step? That's how I did my save for web action.

Is it save for web or save as that's part of you're action?

With save as you may need to have 'flatten image' as one of the steps (from the layers menu).

Make sure all attributes associated with the source image allow you to save it as a jpg.

Does the prompt happen on all images or just some?

edit: Can you list the steps in your action? It might be easier for someone to spot a problem or make suggestions if they see exactly what your action does.

What Collette said. I suspect the problem will disappear if you make step 1 be "flatten image".

They're all JPGs, it's not a flatten issue. The place where it pauses is where it wants me to select the compression quality ration.

In that case, can you list the steps in your action?

Which version of photoshop are you using?

If you're using CS2 then from the Bridge use the batch function from there. It allows you to choose the output format, jpeg, psd or tiff and if jpeg to choose the max dimension for height and width as well as the the quality setting.

I've tried a couple, but basically:

1) Create new action
2) Open file
3) Re-size
4) USM filter
5) Save Image (here it asks me what quality I want)
6) Stop recording

However, whenever I batch it, it asks me the quality every time.

List all the steps in the action palette.
Is there a check mark by any of the steps? If there is photoshop will prompt you at that point.

edit: there will be a check in the first column for all steps but is there a check in the second column for any of the steps?

Okay, it seems to be doing it this time *crossing fingers*...

I think I by-passed the "Open" rules, not sure why that would affect save dialog. But I think it's working...

It's not the checkmark that causes the dialog box to pop-up. It's the little box to the right of the check. It can be blue or red. When it's there, it means that PhotoShop is going to pause and ask you for instructions. When it's not there, it bypasses the dialog box and goes on.
