i read about using fill flash in outdoor portraits...so i did a few experiment shots today...i also had someone standing nearby holding up a diffuser to block the harsh sunlight...anybody have comments or suggestions?

From the standpoint of fill flash I think it has worked quite well.

From the standpoint of composition I think the shadow has let you down as it goes right through the child's head. To me that's a bit of a distraction.

haha...i was so focused on trying to get rid of the shadows ON the kid that i forgot about the shadows BEHIND the kid LOL...oh well, i wasn't really going for any great composition anyway, just experimenting with the idea of fill flash. ;-)

As far as the exposure goes, I think that the first two look great. The shadow line was kind bad and I wish that he had a better expression on his face on #1 and #3. #2 is pretty cute.

I figured as much but thought I would point it out anyway.
