Freakin' vandals, that's what sucks! Oh and having to go back to dial up too....

Last night vandals tore down the only high speed link to my valley which is sligtly outside of the main part of town. The did it about 6 months ago and 2 months before that they wrecked some stuff but not the whole tower. The tower is high on a hard to get to hill and last time they pulled the tower over so it bent in the middle. Only had to replace a section of the tower that time. This time they pulled the bottom with a chain so it sheared off at the concrete. NOT EASY to get more concrete up there...... They also stole all the solar battery storage and the axis points and ruind one of the brend new solar panels. Rotten jerks! However, they DID leave a fresh beer bottle for the sherriff!!!! Rotten & stupid! Maybe they will get caught this time.

I cannot get DSL or Cable out here & I don't want to spring for satellite. Good news is Earthlink dial up isn't too bad unless you want to send/recieve pix or vote on DPC.

Electrified fence with 220v (not that whimpy 120v), backed up with razor wire, cleverly hidden pits with bamboo shafts pointed upward revealing shaved points that have been urinated on. Along with hunter, seeker ultra uber trained guard gogs, and a high tech camera system that records everything in all weather, and all light so that you can enjoy rewind, after rewind.

Just one idea.

D&D broadband right?
Hope the tower the shop's on isn't down, or we won't get much work done tomorrow.. although we have DSL for backup anyways

Voting on dial-up isn't too bad, big challenges take a long time though. And you pretty much have to pick the final vote the first time around

NICE! if only.... the tower was on top of a bluff and was solar/wind powered....hard to get 220v that way! I say WAS 'cause now we are rebuilding it next to my brothers house....it will just have to be REAL TALL to reach the transmitter on the other side of the hill. They decided to do it this way this afternoon. Still, I'll be on Dial up for a week. Hard after being spoiled with broadband for years.

Glad to know they're not giving it up all together
