Just before you snuggle up with your four-point spread, I thought I'd slip you a little dose of reality. Vegas bookies don't care who wins. They only want half the bets on one side and half the bets on the other. Bookies live off the vig. If 50 million people live within 500 miles of Pittsburgh and 10 million people live within 500 miles of Seattle, there is going to be a natural lopside in the betting. Vegas knows this. Vegas expects this. Vegas throws some points on Pittsburgh's back to force more to bet Seattle.
If Seattle were from Texas or L.A., we'd be talking a whole different spread.
So as you dream tonight about "one for the thumb", know that your opponent is vastly underrated. Know that they have gnawed on this lack of respect and chewed it over until it sticks in their craw like a splintered bone. Tomorrow they come for you Steeler Nation...and it ain't gonna be pretty. |

dude...the NFC, in general, sucks.
The steelers already took out the 1st, the 2nd, and the 3rd best teams in the entire NFL this post-season...Believe me, Seattle doesn't have anything on the Steelers...and I could care less about some gambling crap...this is football my man...spreads don't matter.
--
That being said, I still feel that the whole 'any given Sunday' thing applies here, tomorrow. Although, if the Steelers don't make key mistakes, there's no doubt they will win. They are the better team.

I'll no doubt watch the game - I like the commercials. I gave up on football when teams left towns, players left teams, and you could no longer keep up with who went where when.
But back in the day when I was fond of the Cleveland Browns, it was required by law to hate the Steelers. And when Largent played for the Seahawks, I enjoyed watching them play. I even bravely, proudly, and quite foolishly wore my Seahawks sweatshirt to a game they played against the Los Angeles Raiders in Los Angeles. I survived. But it was indeed too hot to be wearing a sweatshirt, as I recall. And as an aside, the Raiders have always been the Oakland Raiders to me - they were just displaced for a period of time.
I'm just hoping it'll be a good game and that I can get the mute button off in time for the commercials. :-) |

Sounds like someone is trying to reassure themself! What can you expect from a fan of a team thats never been to the big dance.
Seattle is known for coffee, which was needed to keep their fans from falling asleep the past 30 years watching the seahawks.
Pittsburgh is known for Lombardi Trophies!
And as usual, the NFC BLOWS.

Everybody talks about this, but nobody talks about the fact that more Seahawks (five) have been to the superbowl than Steelers (one, and a reserve at that). The Seattle coaching staff has more superbowl rings (18) than Steelers (I don't remember, 8?).
Having won a bunch in the 70's isn't gonna help much when the current players weren't even born. |

We'll let the game speak for itself doc...like I said...Any Given Sunday -- and if the Steelers don't make the key mistakes, they will come out on top.

You can not use that old cliche' "they have never been to the big dance"
Free Agency is in play here so I am with Doc on this one. Let the game decide. If either one makes key mistakes the other will win. My gut says Hawks my heart says Steelers. |

It will be a good game deapee. I won't be too disappointed if the Steelers win. Having just come from Pitt I'd be cheering for them if it were anybody but Seattle.
You just have to realize the huge chips people in the NW are currently wearing on their shoulders. It's like we barely belong to the country. Our only two season ticket holders are Lewis and Clark... |

The Steelers started the season expected to gor for it all along with the Colts and the normal cast of AFC.
Early season the Steelers suffered injuries and kept them down. But, as we see, later in the season as the Steelers got healthy they returned to the form that got them to the AFC champ game last year against the Pats who were easily the best team in the NFL last year.
So, I would say that the 4 point spread is actaually being kind to the Seahawks. I expect the Steelers to lay a hammer fest on the Seahawks and for the game to be over by Halftime. Then the second hafl will be the bus left and right.
I would give the Seahawks and 13 points, if I was a betting man >:-O |

That could be said for either team (hell, any team). That is what it is all about at this level, consistancy and execution. You either do or you don't, no excuses later.
The real issue is if Seattle can stop the 3-4 defensive blitz that the steelers use. They have only faced it once this season. My prediction is that if they do it will be a romp for Seattle. If they don't it will be a romp for the Steelers. But my guess is it will not be close either way.
Seattle by 14.

I will be sleeping quite nicely tonight :) Here we go STEELERS!
