Do you know of any band photography that makes you go WOW.. or ooohh aahahhhhh....

I am doing a shoot on monday and am looking for inspiration.

ps. you have to pick OTHER peoples shots to share, not your own.

I recently covered a local Battle of the Bands event. I don't know if they'll make the DPC crowd go WOW, but locally I've had some great reaction.

For those interested in the tech. info: Digital Rebel XT, 50mm f/1.8 II, ISO 1600, f/1.8 to f/2.2, 1/60 sec. to 1/125 sec. (Shutter Speeds and Apertures mostly in that approx. range).

Oh yeah, I like Bobs work too. Also, you should check out Goldberry's work; she's making quite a name for herself on the Calgary music scene.

Not anything that will make you go WOW!, but here's some shot's I did a few months ago.

Shooting bands and trying to be original is a bitch.

I agree very much. I really am not a big fan of the group of people standing there looking 'tough' with arms crossed, or cowboy stanse, looking poeticly off to the side, or curiosly serios into the camera... but it is a challenge to have 4 people posing together and not have them look either family portrait like, or tough guy band shot....

Try shooting a band whre the drummer is 3 times the size of the lead guitarist and make then have the same importance in the shot...that was hsot with a 24mm in very cramped quarters to boot.

Shooting concert shots that have spent thousands light the stage is much easier than posing and lighting the band from scratch...

Here is my attempt. I would like nothing better than to do this for a job.. full stop.. It is such a thrill.

my try at bands

I did a small photoshoot for a 3 guys band. They asked me not to share pictures until they decide what they like and what they do not want to be shown to anybody. I had to follow since one of the guys is my boss.

Or it can be a nightmare depending on the venue.
