Hi, my lens is about to sell and I have a question from a person in Iceland (I'm selling to US addresses only):

"Hello. I'm from Iceland and would like to buy the lens you are selling. Can I make a bid and, if I win, have it sent to an address in Seattle? I have a PayPal account and would pay right away."

Being very new to ebay, I don't want to make any mistakes -- I'm probably being too conservative/paranoid, but should I say yes? Is this a typical request? Thanks!

I just sold something myself for the first time and I noticed something about a buyer being able to setup an alternative address. There are a couple of steps that need to be taken for it to be a confirmed address by PayPal that will give you (the seller) the safe guarantee (or something like that).

Poke around a bit...you should be able to find the details. Or, more likely someone here at DPC will have the answer. ;^)

I would only consider it if he has a confirmed Paypal address.

yeah i saw in a thread the other day that if you ship to an address not listed on their paypal you wont be covered by the paypal insurance or something. just something to consider :)

To be protected by paypal's guarantee you have to ship to the confirmed address only. If you ship somewhere else you are no covered.

If its inexpensive, no big deal.
if it's expensive, then you need/shold be more careful.
what feedback does this person have? if they hsve lots i'd be less wary than if they are like at 20 or even 40.

I always get nervous shipping outside the US, or anything else that feels 'weird'.

0 feedback (like myself). I think I'll say no and avoid any possible problems.

I guess it doesn't matter anyways, it wouldn't let me send the message (probably because there's little time left in the auction)

I have done over 300 transactions on ebay. Selling, and even shipping, to someone in Iceland should be no problem as long as you have the payment firmly in hand before you ship. And be sure that you insure the package when shipped. Of course you want to keep all e-mails until you are sure the transaction is satisfactorily completed. The most secure way to receive payment is cash by Registered Mail, or an International Money Order; and Global Priority Mail with Insurance is the most secure way to ship overseas. These are perhaps a little slower than PayPal (and maybe slightly more expensive) but a lot safer for both buyer and seller.

The buyer is from Iceland? Just tell him if he doesn't pay, you're sending this guy after him:
