Hi all

Just changed printerse because my former one appears to have gone belly-up. While readin gtheir file requirement, they say they require the follwing:

FILE REQUIREMENTS
IF YOU ARE PREPARING YOUR OWN
FILES TO SEND US, WE PREFER THAT
THEY ARE RGB, AND 250 DPI AT THE
SIZE YOU REQUIRE.

When I looked into my image size, it says my resolution is 72pixels/inch. My Pentax is set at 6megapixels and I shoot in either 3008x2000 or RAW but irrespective my shots are only 72pixels per inch. I can't seem to modify this setting in either photoshop without some quality issues occuring, or in-camera. I'm assuming that this means any large prints (ie over A3) will be pretty ordinary quality.

Any help would be seriously appreciated.

Thanks, all
Nic.

No, you're OK. Your image width of 3008 pixels would print at about 300dpi at 10 inches long side (3008px divided by 10inches equals 300.8px/inch). Make sense?

Edit:
In Photoshop, open the Image Size dialog, uncheck "Resample" byt leave "Constrain Pooportions" checked. Now change the width or height to your intended print dimension. The other dimension gets automatically adjusted, as does the DPI. You're good to go.

In photoshop goto Image Size and with the Resample Image button UNCHECKED change the dpi to 250 and you will see the 100% size value. 8x12 that would be the max print size for that printers requirements.

The Waz

Edit you can interpolate as well

Also in printing the rule is 1.5 times line screen so 150lpi=225dpi

Edit "Commercial Printing"

Thanks guys, for all your input. Greatly appreciated.
