My camera time is set correctly - at least it was when I checked it after taking some shots this evening. The time that shows up in the exif file in Photoshop CS, however, is 6 hours earlier.

Thoughts? This could be a problem if I run right out and shoot a challenge immediately after it's announced (albeit unlikely - it's 11 pm here when they're announced).

Your original should not have been opened or used by PS anyway. It may be a conflict between your camera's clock setting and that on your computer. If the camera is indeed set correctly you should be OK.

Eh... are you shooting RAW? There was a known bug in ACR that caused exactly this behavior. I just checked ACR 3.3 and it appears to have been corrected. I believe the difference had something to do with the offset between your local time and GMT.

Edit: If this IS the problem, don't worry, the EXIF data in the RAW file is fine, it's just how ACR is displaying it.

I have the same problem with PS. However, if I use something else to view the exif data, it shows the correct camera time. Its a glitch in PS.

I don't open the original - just copy it from the card to the computer. In PS Bridge, I duplicate any shot I want to work on before I do anything else, then work on that duplicate. It's when I click once on the original and PS displays the exif data that I notice it's not correct. And the computer is set to the same time the camera is. 'Tis very weird. I may look into replacing the internal battery in the camera...

Do you have an exif viewer you can recommend? And oddly, I don't think it shows up "wrong" in PS all the time... I'll have to keep track. Thanks for the response!

Which version of Adobe Camera Raw do you have installed?

I'm not sure I do have camera raw loaded - I have PS CS2 and am not an expert at what it has and doesn't have.

You prolly have 3.2; I used to notice the time offset as well, but since installing ACR 3.3 I don't see the offset anymore. Even if you don't shoot RAW, you might consider installing it. It's available ad adobe.com for free. If you do decide to experiment with RAW, ACR 3.3 is a great RAW converter.
You also might try Help/Updates in PS, and see what other updates are available.

I'll definitely go check for updates - thanks very much for the assistance!

Kirbic is right. I didn't even know they had updated it - I'll check that out - thanks!

PSCS2 has camera RAW built in. To check what your camera really shows up as, you can use the program provided by canon with your camera. File viewer I think its called. Also Raw Shooter Essentials will display the correct time.

fat fingers...
