thanks all...I just ordered a 250g Iomega from buy.com for $129 - free shipping...it's shown on the buy.com site as having only 2meg cache, but the specs on the iomega site for the exact item list 8meg cache. |

I got a Seagate 7200 RPM 160 GB external drive with an 8 mb cache (USB 2.0) for $90 after rebates at Circuit City. I think the deal is over, but in case they have another special, here's the drive.

I just received a 250Gb/USB2.0 LaCie from Dell for $145 with shipping. Not sure if the deal is still there but I ordered early last week. Might have to look myself, as I am filling this one fast :-( |

I love my 250gb Western Digital Passport. You can get it at Newegg for $90. Otherwise, the Seagate Go 250gb is abou $82 on Newegg right now. They are small and only need a usb for power, no additional AC adapter needed. The only downside is they aren't fast because USB isn't all that fast.
If you want speed, and you have an eSATA port on your computer, get an external drive with eSATA. USB is 400mb/s transfer and eSATA is up to 3000mb/s.
