We've had Surrealism (2005) and Trends (Jul 2003) but not art deco. Because it was such a visually distinctive period with strong clean lines and bright colours it could produce some interesting images.

Description:-
Art Deco is a style of design that became popular in the 1920's & 30's. Art deco is characterized by long, thin forms, curving surfaces, bold colours and geometric patterning. The practitioners of the style attempted to describe the sleekness they thought expressive of the machine age. The style influenced all aspects of the era's art and architecture, as well as the decorative, graphic, and industrial arts.

Represent the style and form of art deco in your submission.

Yeah, but shooting that would be really cliche. A voter will see so many of that same building in a row that they would all begin to suffer...

Wasn't suggesting shooting it; just brought it up because for those unfamiliar with art deco, mention of the Chrysler building (which is very famous) will help them visualize the topic. There's a LOT of good art deco in New York Another famous site that's art deco is Hoover Dam near Las Vegas, for our Southwestern brethren.

There's also plenty of buildings in Downtown Detroit with that theme to them. There's also some buildings in some of the outlying suburbs that were built in that era as well.

Art Deco is a greeat idea but I hope people don't resort to a building challenge. Art Deco style is found in a lot of things especially fashion.

This is definitely true. I'm just a retired architectural photographer, so I tend to think in terms of buildings :-)

Perhaps I should confess a competitive edge since I'm the OP. We live 3 hours away from the self-styled Art Deco Captial of the world.

This might just be the road trip Kari1 was referring to .. especially when there's free beds with good friends at the other end.
