Just curious on what dpc members have or do, good or bad, around there prized post processing system (computer). These could be habits or such or computer related. If you can post your temple of post processing (photograph).
Oops I forgot to mention myself.
I dont ever name my files correctly its so bad that I have notes on my computer to where to look for certain files.
My office has folders and crap all over.
Papers laying around. CD's laying around.

Too much crap lying around. LIttle scraps of paper, and magazines, and pens and god knows what else. My scanner is a great paper weight LOL. I have a woody on my desk too.
I do a good job of organizing my photos by date, my brain remembers the rest (most of the time). I wish i had the time/motovation/inclination to organize them on keywords.

my habit I really have to get rid of is to keep selecting the text I'm reading with my mouse.
click select drag unselect click click select drag unselect click click select drag unselect click click select drag unselect click
sometimes my right hand hurts because of it. I hate it, but I can't help it! |

I'm like some obsessed little animal constantly cleaning... nothing stays on my computer. Software I don't use..GONE! Photos get backed up to CD almost immediately then after I've used them ... GONE!
Disk Cleanup and Defrag weekly. Autoupdates on everything! Check for driver updates monthly. It's actually kind of sickening how much time I spend babying my computer.

OMG! I do the same exact thing!
I also hate mousepads...There is now a oval shaped paintless section where the pad should be...and there is no paint left on my mouse where my thumb, index, and middle fingres rest.
...renaming files to the correct name is a pet peeve of mine, as most files and up on the desktop at some point or another. |

I do this too and it's awful. I name all my files things like test, test 2, test 3, throw this crap away, stuff, etc. Then I put it all in folders like dekstop crap, stuff for later, other stuff, miscellaneous, etc. I can never find anything and I'm sure I have multiples of things that I don't need.

See a software that could make the mouse feel or act like a highlighter without clicking would be sweet. |

Believe me, I'm very able to read without selecting it. It's just a habit. The only thing that would help is not being able to select text... :( |

It's my hobby I guess. Call me a geek. It's true.
The computer on its side on the desk was being dismantled to go into storage to be replace by the pretty black one in the background when I did something stupid. I fried the HD controller on it, but it still runs just not with HD/CD/DVD drives (which important for the house FILESERVER)...
Laptop is primary PC.

Major upheaval in my office ... I cleaned it last week. I just had to record it. This is just the computer setup and doesn't show the desk next to it with monitor, laser printer, photoprinter and laptop. Kari1's Tablet PC and Desktop PC are in other rooms :)

| Back in March or so last year, we had a thread similar to this. I see some of the setups are still online. I remember Bear-Music's being especially glorious; maybe he'll post it again. |

What is probably worse is that my primary machine has two monitors on one desk in the dining room and my tablet is next to the couch in the lounge ... guess you could say we like our puters.

Mine:
I don't have pics of the setups at the shop where I work, but its a bit more impressive than mine at home (I need to clean up, and get rid of a lot of stuff), but I have a pic of my boss that we took with a customer's Pentax, and I photoshopped a santa claus hat on :P
