I have a editted image in the Photoshop .PSD format that I want to save as a .JPG, but Photoshop won't give me the option, only .PSD, .EPS, .PDF, or .RAW. This is the case with or without layers (both the option chosen during the 'Save As' process or by flattening the image prior to starting the save process).

I know there is a way other than 'Save for web' to get this image saved as a .JPG...what am I missing.

By the way, I am using Photoshop 7.

Thanks in advance, amigos.

You might have the image in 16-bit color mode, or you might be in a mode other than RGB (like LAB or CMYK for instance). Those would be two possible reasons.

This makes no sense; I use PS 7.0 and jpg is always an option. If I save jpg on an image that has layers, it will force me to save as a copy and continue to show the psd version with the layers, but the jpg is there if I go to "file/open" and open it. By default PS refuses to destroy a layerted original but saves a cipy in jpg instead.

The image is an 8-bit duotone...I've messed with the image a great deal, but this is a bit perplexing.

EDIT: I converted back to RGB from duotone and that opened up the options. So, I guess you can't save a .JPG while in duotone. I'll add it to the list of stuff to know.
