We recently moved from Florida to Guam. Both of our computers are running XP. On my time/date properties, it keeps screwing up the date..LOL I set the time zone to Guam, along with today's date and correct time. The time stays fine but the date changes. For example, today is January 31st here.....BOTH systems read Feb 1st. This has happened a few times.
Any ideas?
Thanks :)
Jenn

It could be getting the system date from the computer's bios. Have you noticed the date changes after a reboot?

you dont have a PDA do you?
I had the problem with my PDA where my house PC is GMT London yet the silly works administator had set the timezone to GMT Casablanca which is still GMT yet caused no end of confusion between PC's and PDA.
Just a small possibilty!!!

Honestly, I am not sure when it has changed as I have not payed very much attention to it. I'll have to check next time i reboot.

When you double click on the clock and the window pops up, make sure you check all the tabs. The third tab is "internet time." If you have that checked to sync, it will update your clock to whatever timezone you've chosen in the second tab. Make sure all that info is correct - just changing the clock won't override those. |

I just tried rebooting my desktop and the date stayed the same.
Who knows, maybe I am just going insane...LOL

you could just have the date wrong by 12 hours which would say tomorrow today at noon instead of midnight.
Also, you could try selecting a different location in the same time zone or input it manually to see if that works properly. |

If you are using the automatic synchronization feature be sure you have selected time.nist.gov, the second option in the drop down menu on that Internet Time tab. That way you will be getting your updates fron the National Institute of Standards and Technology (home of the official "Atomic Clock") and not from Microsoft.
BTW, while we're talking about the clock in xp, does anyone if you can make the display in your task tray show seconds as well as hours & minutes? I have often thought that would be very handy.

Ok, I changed that. It was on Microsoft.
I'll just have to keep an eye on it to see if I can find a cause. Maybe it was just a user error......3 times..LOL
Thanks all

There are a number of programs or skins that will do it but I haven't seen any that look much like the existing clock and I don't believe there's a way to make the existing one show seconds. |
