HUGS! Private message me the title and I'll give you a comment! I don't have time to vote on the Open Challenges anymore, and I probably won't get around to doing 20% so my score won't stick, but I know how nasty it is to not have enough comments to explain your score.

So far I've rated 38 and commented on 34 of these. But with the number of entries and time constraints I won't get much past the 20% barrier - although I will get that far at least.

The two times I've entered contests I've voted on every image and commented on at least 75%.

Perhaps there should be a rule that you need to vote on a certain percentage if you enter a submission. Perhaps even comment on a certain percentage as well - even if only 10% or something.

Yeah, I'm sure it's full of problems but it might at least motivate some people to put back what they get out of the sight. Plus, I actually learn quite a lot from studying others photo's closely so I'm learning whilst commenting.

10% of 250 entries is 25 photos... now, i know some people comment on atleast that many, but i've just a beginner for now (only got my cam at christmas) and i dont think that if i did 25 comments at this point, that they'd be much more than "good job, etc" .. when i make a comment, i make it to a point for it to be constructive. granted up to now i've only given 4 comments and they've all been "helpfull", but i'm starting to learn photography, and as i get more free time (last semester of university here! plus a part time job.. getting rushed ..), as right now, i barely have time to even enter. All in all, i dont think demanding a certain number of comments would be wise, as i'd just be filling up comments with nothing more than a pointless "nice pic", and people deserve more than that. In time i'll get to writing more usefull comments, but for now i rather not.. I hope this makes sense :)

For a short time they tried barring you from submitting unless you voted on 95% or commented on some percentage the week before. That was wildly unpopular, and they removed it. I doubt the admins will try anything similar again.

I thought that voting first and then commenting later would be easier, but it is harder. I am trying to comment on the ones I voted on and it keeps bring to another picture to vote on. Does that make sense? I think starting next week, when I vote on a photo I will give it a comment then.

the sad fact of the matter is that, in these really large challenges, only the most striking and/or most controversial or provocative photos end up getting a lot of comments.

even good photos with above average scores will not get that many comments, simply because people have too big a job on their hands.

i try to comment as i go and i usually can make a few comments before i just have to get a bunch of voting done. then i try to come back and hit some that i wanted to comment on ...
