I was poking around Amazon and stumbled across this book:

"Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson

I went to my local library and picked it up.

I've never considered myself an expert, and it wasn't until I read this book that I discovered how far from an expert I really was. I quickly discovered that I have been doing so many things so wrong over the past few years. In the last few days, I've been looking at pictures that I took that I thought were good, and really seeing what I could have done to make them even better.

It is an easy read, and the author is biased toward film, but the concepts carry over. It doesn't touch any studio concepts, only natural light. Some of the material you probably already know, but if you are like me, there are probably lots of holes that need to be filled in. This doesn't fill them all, but it sure filled a lot of them. Even though it's available at my library, and I've read it once, I'm buying it.

You can all expect to see my challenge scores rising in the next few months (I hope).

I purchased that book - Understanding Exposure - right after getting my first dSLR. It really has helped me as I have never had any classes on photography, and had never used a dSLR at all before - just P&S. It really is easy to follow, and I love the excellent examples photos throughout the book.
