I've been following the thread, but not commentings till now. Well said, Megatherian. I support the SC's decision and thank you for your vigilance. I see nothing further I care to add to this thread.

ok first of all i am appalled at all of you who are in doubt of this.. the myspace account happens to be an old account.. Jordon and I broke up for a small amount of time ,that was posted yes.. and he came back asking me to marry him. His death is NOT public..not in the papers not in the news. I only posted on here to get some emotional support. And as each and every one of you know that I have not asked for anything from any of you. I should not have to explain myself on here, and becuz of all this and ppl making assumtions, I have decided not to be a part of DPC anymore. I have had a terrible loss and I'm not sorry that you all dont' want to believe me.. but i do know that you are incredibly heartless and it has only made the hurt more. I have nothing more to say, and if ya'll want to think i'm something I'm not, then feel free to think so... it doesn't matter anymore..

I, like BobsterLobster, felt that the original thread was fishy and hence didn't post my sympathies at the time but nor could I be arsed to find out more in order to post my suspicions.

However, I too want to echo Megatherian's excellent post and express my FULL support for the actions of SC in investigating, discussing, coming to a conclusion and handling it as best they could.

Let's face it, with some people, they can never win whatever they do! If they hadn't done a thing, some people would be mad once the hoax came to light. If they had posted every little detail about how they made the judgement, some people would be mad about that too.

All credit to them for choosing the right path in a difficult situation.

Hey Crystal,

From Hays go north until you find the old school house a few miles. There should be an old stone house near. Go sit there and enjoy the meadowlarks singing and prairie winds. I know the spot well, that were my father was born and its an isolated thinking spot. Iy will help.

Perhaps each state is different, but in my work experience it is a law to have deaths listed publicly. It is not required to have an obituary, but the deceased listing is. The death listing is not printed by the individuals family it is the official notification.

Thank you to the SC for their actions. I am among the sleuths....and for whatever reason this occured it needed to be stopped.

Crystal....get help. You desperately need support. Support if this is an uncontrollable mental illness or strong support if the only place you could turn to in your tragedy was to post a sympathy message.

For what it's worth, I've worked in the media in one form or another (radio and newspaper, specifically) since 1985. If someone dies in a traffic accident, it's news. Unless there's some sort of really unique circumstance involved -- and I've never heard of one -- the family has no say as to whether or not such an accident makes the news.

Obituaries are a little different, at least with newspapers I know about. Those are really death notices that are paid for by the family. I don't believe there's any obligation on anyone's part to purchase them if the family chooses not to.

I will add that the SC did do some due diligence along these lines before locking the other thread.

All deaths are reported to the county/parish clerk/recorder by the attending physician or coroner ... hence the existence of a "death certificate."

It really has nothing to do with newsworthiness ...

thanks alan, that is what I was trying to say but I rambled instead...

NYS lists a official legal death notification (name, current address, death date). Obituaries are personally written, paid for by the families.
