Have you ever used a model? How much did you pay them, if you paid them or did you possibly trade time for prints? I have been doing some research and I am really curious what everyone has to say.

A lot depends on what you want to use the model for. For most projects, I just use average, nice looking girls. I usually provide them with prints and do some shots they want to have done in trade for modeling.
I do some work for aspiring models, portfolio stuff for them. That's usually either they pay me or sometimes I work out a trade to do projects I want to work on.

I've had a few models (aspiring) find me, I get the portfolio shots and experience and they get to use anything that comes out well. Seems once you meet one, word of mouth spreads quickly.

I don't think I've ever paid a model - I've always done time for prints or some other trade. In some cases it was prints from the session, in other cases I spent some time shooting for my project (e.g. nudes) and some time shooting for some project or other need of the model's (e.g. head shots for modelling/musicians). In some cases the models were simply friends who were happy to donate their time for my project, gratis.
That said, I can imagine circumstances where I would pay a model, but those circumstances haven't happened yet.
