Just letting the dpc world know that I have just received delivery of my new lens today! What a world the macro world is! It takes a great deal of skill to shoot macro properly. This lens is so sharp and crisp and really lives up to its reputation. I am tempted to get a 150mm as well if macro is something I really get to enjoy.

My daughter Sarah headed into the garden herself and got some amazing shots. I think she will like it more than me! Has anyone else enjoyed their Sigma 105???

OOOOOOOOO!! A new world has opened up for you. Enjoy and remember to use your tripod and timer for releasing the shutter. And manual focus....! Congratulations! ;-)

The manual focus goes without saying. I love the way the lens handles. But man, you need to shoot at around f22 plus and that of course lowers shutter speeds, so then you have to crank ISO to about 1000 just to handhold. A tripod, or at least the monopod will be this afternoon's challenge.

No, I have to make do with extension rings, but a true macro lens around 100mm focal length would be niiiiiice. Hadn't heard about the Sigma before but if it's good I'll keep an eye out for one. For anyone who has used (or seen the results from) more than one of them, how do the Sigma 105mm, the Tamron 90mm and the Minolta 100mm compare in terms of quality?
