I think this would be a great starter/deal for you Rose. Its a lot better then what your looking at and it'll make you lean towards getting something bigger/better sooner. |

I agree notonline.
At first I thought this camera would be snatched up on ebay. But people are not inclined to buy used cameras much there for high prices. That is why I am holding on to my old, but super, Minolta 35mm. I am not going to let it go for $40 on ebay, when it cost quite a bit more in its time and does take wonderful shots.
I have spoken to jmlelii, and hopefully we can work it out if ebay falls through. He might get lucky though, and have a last minute spurt in a sale on ebay. We shall see. But I will admit, if jmlelii hadn't offered this sale here, and I saw it on ebay, I wouldn't buy it on ebay. Here? I can pretty much trust others won't offer a sale on a camera not up to par, but on ebay one has to be more careful not knowing the actual owner or the communities in which they like to reside (DPC). So we shall see what happens.

What may be scaring some people off is that: i) he's a first time seller with 0 feedback and ii) his add states that he doesn't offer shipping insurance, although I imagine that he is.
Both these factors mean that most respectable and knowledgeable ebayers are staying away.
Good thing he put a reserve on it. |

I agree. I sell a LOT on ebay. Personally, I don't like to deal with those who have less than 30 feedbacks. However, I also do not ship outside the USA. Just to Canada a package can run $10 for a small item and not be guaranteed delivery in under 6 weeks. It costs megabux to ship it faster, plus custom forms, etc. It's really a pain in the butt. So I stick to not only USA, but immediate pay pal payments only. I don't seem to have much trouble that way.
Putting a reserve was definately the smart way to go for sure.

There's a DAY left, it will pass the reserve. It has 8 bids before there's less than 24 hours to go. Also, and this is not to price police but as a place a way to explain his bidding - but you can typically get a DRebel for $400 to $500 off FredMiranda with the kit lens, the stuff that came in the box and not have to wage bidding wars on ebay over it. So the most knowledgeable bidders bid late and the most knowledgeable photography buffs know about FM. It'll happen, but it will happen late in the auction. :)

Just as an aside Rose, I buy a great deal of stuff from the USA and have it either shipped to a PO Box that I have in Ogdensburg, NY or ask to have the item shipped to the UPS store there.
THe UPS store charges me a $5.00 fee for this service and it saves me the hassle of dealing with intercontinental shipping. I simply pick it up and declare it when I cross the border, pay the taxes due.....and voila.....done.

I would much rather see a camera or something photography related listed for sale than say.....something completely unrelated to photography....like a motorcycle.
Just my .02 tho. |
